There are two different women named Joan Briggs; one was the second wife of Peter Tallman, the other was the second wife of William2(Wm1) Wilbur. William's first wife was the daughter of Peter Tallman & Ann Hill (my source, Benjamin F. Wilbour's "Little Compton Families," doesn't list her first name).
The child of the affair between Thomas Durfee and Ann (Hill) Tallman was likely my ancestor Robert Durfee (see the postings on the subject under the Durfee genforum, which also contain information on the court proceedings arising from the affair; if you word search for "Tallman" on the Durfee page they should come up).
If you let me know which child of William Wilbur's you are descended from I will give you a guess as to which wife was the mother (i.e Sarah??? Tallman or Joan Briggs), but B.F.Wilbour doesn't identify which children were born to which wife, although he lists their birthdates.
