I am looking for any information thta might even remotely connect to my Talley/Butler/McKeehan line.
My g-grandmother was Sarah Elizabeth Talley, b: 26 April, 1875 d: 2 May 1938 in Waco, McLennan County, TX. She was married to William Thomas Butler b: Abt 1864 d: between 1920-1930.
They had 6 children, but only 5 lived. They were: Martha Frances Butler (my g-mother); Harry Rembert Butler; James McDonald Butler; Ethel Butler Pressley, and Sally Jane Butler Glass.
Sarah Elizabeth Talley went by Elizabeth or Lizzie. She married William Thomas Butler on May 8, 1892 in Chepultepec, Blount County, Alabama. Her daughter Martha was my grandmother, and she married in AL to John E. McKeehan on Nov 2, 1915. Martha and John moved first to VA, then to NC, and Martha came back to GA to be close to John's brother for help when John died.
It is suspected that Sarah Elizabeth Talley is of Indian, possibly Cherokee, decent. Martha looked to be full Indian. This is not written in stone, but just what my research has pointed to. I DO know that Sarah Elizabeth Talley was from "The Birmingham" area. I have found some evidence indicating possibly Jefferson County? Does anybody know of a line of Talley from Jefferson County AL from 1875 - 1890's or early 1900's?
I know Martha was born in Blount Co in 1894 and she was the oldest. Her father is definitely William Thomas Butler, and her mother is definitely Sarah Elizabeth Talley Butler.
Sarah's father was possibly William Talley of Jefferson or Blount Co, AL.
I have been following this line for 15 years and just got a break last month. Any information, no matter how vague, will be Greatly appreciated.
