The elderly lady could be Elisha's mother Penny/Penelope "Peach" Mosley. She was Elisha Sr.'s third wife and the mother of Littleton and Elisha. She was supposedly a cousin of Elisha Jr. Her first husband died. She died 1847.
Charles was indeed the son of Obadiah. Obadiah's mother was Ann Woody who died in 1797.
The families of these moved to Arkansas. There is a book that gives great detail.
The oldest son of Elijah, Thomas, was also in Heard Co. 1840 Census. His son Thomas Didimus Talley moved to Texas leaving behind his oldest son who settled in North Alabama. Thomas's mother was Mary Hood. I have the obit. of Thomas Didimus Talley.
Elisha's family is well documented in the Littleton Family Bible. It is included in the book mentioned above.
