I have copied my FTM "notes" on Elizabeth Webb Talley Yates, and I will appreciate your help. I am looking for the parents of the children living with Elizabeth on the 1850 Census. SEE BELOW. Juanelle ______________________________________________________ Spencer Talley's 2nd wife, Elizabeth Webb Christened in Dover Parish, Goochland, VA 2-28-1773. Elizabeth married Spencer Talley prior to Oct. 1798. (see notes on Spencer) She was his 2nd wife. He died March 15, 1818. Wilson TN court minutes #249 May 7, 1818 Daniel Talley one of the legatees opposed the probate of his father Spencer and contested will. A jury found that it was the will of Spencer. The will was proved by Boaz Southern & Patsy Talley. Betsy( Betsy , wife Eliz) Talley exec. returned the inventory. On September 6,1819 after Spencer died in March 1818 and shortly before her re-marriage September 16,1819 to John Yates, Elizabeth (Betsy) gave a gift of deed to 5 of her Children: William W., Hannah, Betty (Elizabeth), Coleman, and Frances Talley. Pg. 144 in Wilson Co. Misc. Records. Recorded 1-20-1820. It is unknown why she gave to only these children. We are not sure how many were Winifred's (Spencer's first wife) children, and she did not include them, or if the rest had been settled with prior to this time. In 1822 Wilson Co. Ct. Min. 1822-1824, June 1822 pg. 22 A James Talley & Elizabeth Gates (Yates) was indicted, her step son James ? (Spencer & Winnifred's son James.) 8-13-1823 James Talley to John B. Yates, 22 1/2 acres on Spring Creek. 11-3-1846 Eliz. applied for widow's pension from Yates. 4-12-1848 Coleman Talley and Eliz. Yates to John Wynn, 94 acres in the 11th District. Wilson Co. Deed BK. pp 82-83. (Did they sell all but 6 acres of Spencers 100 acres?) ------------- 1850 Wilson Co. Dist 7 HH#1176: Elizabeth Yates 78 VA Coleman Corley 21 Richard Corley 15 Nancy Tally 18 William Tally 16 --------------- 1860 Dist. 7, HH #812/785 she was living alone , age 88, born VA.
