There is information both in the Talley Family history as well as on page 108 of Stuart Seeley Sprague's Kentuckians in Ohio and Indiana in reference to James Talley that
the Talleys lived in Fayette County after John Talley died in Mercer County in 1843 and before coming to Bartholomew County, Indiana. Year of migration to Fayette County is 1844. Several dates in the family history are incorrect but citation in Sprague's book would support the stop in Fayette County so you may want to check there. I do have information on this family in Bartholomew County.
