Yes, there was only one opera singer that I know of. If you use google put in Marion Talley Opera and you will see some interesting stuff written about her.Plus other information is saying she was born in Vernon county Missori and her father was born in Taney county Missouri. She is on the 1910 and 1920 census in Jackson County Mo. Her sister Florence was born in Ellis Kansas. I haven't found her father Clarence M. on the 1900 or 1880 census anywhere.
On the 1903 map plate of Vernon county I find M. E.Talley. The people translated it as M. E. Talley but I'm wondering it the E. is misread. I've looked at it a couple of times and can't make a determination.
If her grandfather is this Marion N. Talley that is buried in Iowa I suspect that her line came from the Talley Family on the Delaware(there is a book on line about them-- William his son was Thomas and Thomas had several sons). I wish that we could get some known person from that line DNA tested. They know that part of that family ended up in Ohio and Indiana. Also there was a David Talley who is the son of Thomas who sold his land. They believe this David had two sons, David and George. I think it is a possibility that these sons moved to Virginia at an early date and that David the father joined them at a later date.
I don't know if the time line would work out correctly or not.
Anyway, the Talley family on the Delaware had a couple of known great musicians in the family. There is a woman I know from the Talley line that said she has the same type voice that Marion had. Her father said that Marion was a cousin of his.--We don't kow how many times removed. She and I are wondering how many people in group two have talent in the field of music. I have some first and second cousins that are talented( line of Lucy Talley Jones sister to Armstead Talley both children of Benoni ) . The William B. Talley line(not tested yet) had some that were talented.
Maybe those who have seen talent in their lines could post.
