I was looking for the father of Charles M. Talley on a census or two and found a very interesting situation. Charles M. Talley is found on the 1910 and 1920 census in Jackson County, Missouri. He is the father of daughters Marion and Florence. Marion was an opera singer. The death certificate of Charles M. shows that his father is Marion Talley born in Indiana. We know from other people that the father's name was Marion Nicholas Talley and that he was in the civil war. He married Hannah Radley/Rudley in Coles county Illinois. He doesn't appear on any census. I was investigating the Marion N. Talley that is buried in Polk County, Iowa McDivitt Cemetery.born Feb. 26,1847- died Jan 7. 1908. It says that his wife is Luella. They share the same marker. He was in CO B 2 IND Vol Calvary. I believe that Jesse Talley buried in the same cemetery was their son. However, when I look for Jesse on early census this is what I find:

It appears to me that Charles of the census is actually Marion N. Talley the father of Charles M. Talley of Jackson County, Missouri. Does anyone know for certain? We know that Charles M. Talley was raised by a stepfather with the last name Tucker.
