First, I am NOT an authority on the Tallent family, but I did some research on my late husband's family for my son.
I believe you will find that the Monroe co Tallents came from Anson Co, NC in the late 1700s. I have a few records of a James Tallent. One says that William Tallent and his wife Mary An Moses had two sons Moses and James Elisha. My Tallent line is from Moses who was born in 1796, so I guess James Elisha was born around that time.

Moses Tallent (above) had ten children: Joshua (my line) and James plus others. Joshua was born about 1819 and James is listed next. If you can find the email address of David Barnes, he can give you much info. Look for his address on this site. You may find him as a contributor
on familyconnect.

I know nothing about the other family. Hope this helps a little. Mary Tallent
