WE may have a possilbe connection here as the Jesse you might be refering to had a wife named Mary in the earlier census records
I have always wondered if this Jesse and our Samuel are one and the same person.
They also are in Burke Co NC as well
A whole bunch of Samuel's ancestors and family were in Burke and Cleveland Co NC
I am most definetly sending your message to the others researching this line to include alot of lincoln, Burke, Cleveland and Catawba Co Families
Maybe they can make sense of this with us

I have found I think Samuel Tallent in Calhoun Co MS in the 1880 Census with another wife named Caroline
Samuel as i told you married Mary J Johnson in Catawba Co NC
her sister Nancy A Johnson was living in Burke Co NC in 1910 married in 1906 to John Henry Kiser (this was her first marriage even though she also had several children out of wedlock to include Lafayette Thomas "Fate" Taton" Johnson, Lee Ola "Oler" Johnson (female), Jacob Henry JOhnson, Lillian JOhnson (she died young) their half siblings through Nancy John Dock Kiser (born before the marriage to his father)
Her other sister Martha Cline/JOhnson also lived in Catawba Co NC but is buried in Lincoln but most of her children went to Burke and Catawba as well she married Aaron A Tallent (brother to Samuel)
If i pay you for copies of the Bastardy Bonds and postage can i get copies as well.
I would love to stay in touch and here what you have learned
I will also send you a chart on These families so you will see all of them
Do you have a Genealogy program it would be easier that way casue the report for the oldest is Nathaniel Mitchum and it is 364 pages
