Jama,I've heard several stories about James Harvey Tallent and I don't know how true they are, but he must have been an interesting man.He was supposedly married previous to his marriage to Mary A. Brown.I don't know what his first wife's name was, but she and their two children were taken by Indians and Harvey never saw them again. He worked in a blacksmith shop of Hamilton Lincoln in Roane County, TN until the Civil War.He enlisted in the Confederate States of America at Rhea Springs, was captured at the Battle of Murfreesboro.Rather then go to military prison in the north, he swore allegiance to the U.S. and served the remainder of the war at Memphis in an Artillery company. In the late 1870's he returned to the Army, went to Mexico on expedition, was wounded, and died in Texas. After his death, Mary moved to Knoxville where she ran a boarding house.Harvey and Mary's children were: Matthew Madison, John "Jack" G., Martha K., Elizabeth, Dorthula S., James L., and Benjamin Joseph Tallent.James Harvey was the son of Aaron Tallent (Jan. 14, 1807 - July 17, 1868 and Bithena Anderson (May 24, 1803 - Apr. 10, 1869)They lived in Blount County, TN near Louisville and were buried in the Middlesettlement United Methodist Church Cemetery.Aaron was the son of James and Martha Tallent.
