I am descended from Edward Pennington Talkington and Elizabeth J Bland. Edward's parents were Stephen and Sally (Acock) Talkington. They came to Hempstead Co, AR in 1826 and remained there until their death. I was told that they were buried in the Fairview Cemetery in Van Buren, AR bt I was unable to find their graves.
Edward and Elizabeth had 11 children, 4 of whom died as a result of the civli war - - two young men and two daughters - - and they lost two sons in law. Their daughter, Mary Malissa, is my gr gr grandmother. She married JJ Reed before 1855 and had three daughters with him (Delina J, Mary Elizabeth, and Georgia Mattie) before his death ~1865. She was living in Tomlinson Township, Scott Co, AR at the time of his death. The family story is that she hid her daughters under a wagon load of hay and escaped with them through eneny lines (not sure which side at this point) and moved to Looney Township in Polk Co, MO where she married a much older man, Benjamin Mitchell Looney, which who she had three sons before his death in 1875. She moved with her daughter and her husband (James Madison Harris) to Selma, Fresno Co, CA in the latee 1880s. She died there in 1893.
I have more information on this family if you are interested.

Since you live in AR, I hope you might be able to help me find out something about Mary Malissa's husband. The only things that I know are:
his initials were JJ
he was born ~1828 in Indiana
he probably had a brother with the initials HZ Reed (which lived nearby in 1860 Scot co, AR)

And, f course, any additional information on this family would be greatly appreciated.
