MARTIN MATHIS or MATTHEWS in SC
While working on early settlers in Amelia Township, SC, I have come to some language problems, I think.
There is a plat for a Samuel MARTIN; but, on closer examination, I believe it's MATHIS--possibly the partner of Joseph KERSHAW in early trading ventures.
There's a 1737 William MARTIN near Anthony GAUNT.
There is a 1773 Lauchlan MARTIN; however, I think that might be Larkin MARTIN:

There is a 1798 Telepharoah MARTIN; which I thought might be a Taliaferro MARTIN:

At any rate, I'll appreciate any comments which might help me associate these individuals with a family group.
