Seeking some info on the Talbots who lived for a time in Lunenburg Co, VA. Lunenburg formed in 1746 from Brunswick. Year 1748 is the first official tithe list for Lunenburg Co, and a Mathew Talbot was a justice and took the tithe in his precinct. Here are the Talbots. 1748 Mathew Talbot's District: Mathew Talbot list Mathew Talbot, Junr. William Cook Jno. Meguire 8 Charles Talbot 2 1749 William Caldwell's District: Chas. Talbot 2 Matw. Talbot's District: Matw. Talbot, Jun. 1 Matw. Talbot Chestr. Bristol 5 1750 William Caldwell's District: John Talbot 1 Chas. Talbot 1 John Phelps's District: Matw. Talbot, Junr. 1 Matw. Talbot Danl. Rains 1 1751 - Talbots are missing but so are some of the 1751 tithe lists. 1752 William Caldwell's District: Chas. Talbot William Adkins 1 John Phelps's District: Matw. Talbot, Junr. 3 Mattw. Talbot's list Mattw. Talbot Jno. Talbot Abm. Chandler Danl. Krins [?] 7 Is this Daniel Rains? I am interested in this Matthew Talbot who has Abraham Chandler in his household. I have found this document: 04 Jul 1750, "Churchwardens of Cumberland Parish bind out Abraham Chandler, son of Wm Chandler to Mathew Talbot Gent." [Lunenburg Order Book 2, p. 298] Note that William Chandler was dead before 02 June 1848 when "Church Wardens of Parish of Cumberland bind out (according to law) Wm. Chandler, son of Wm Chandler decd, to Benjamin Dixon, son of Thos. Dixon." [Lunenburg Order Book 2, p. 11] The Talbots leave Lunenburg Co, VA. Where do they go? I have a reference to Matthew Talbot's will which mentions Abraham Chandler as a godson. When and where did Matthew Talbot die and does anyone have a copy of said will? Does anyone know anything about this William Chandler Sr. and his two sons? Any help appreciated. Cheryl Notify Administrator about this message?
