Thanks for the info on Talbot Castle. Seems I'd been misinformed. Anything to connect Matthew to it though? Latest Talbot studies I've seen say he was probably born in England or Maryland, not in Ireland. I've seen the Talbot web site you mention. But it is only on his descendants, I believe. And yes, it was the pre-American ancestory I was challenging. I'd love it to be correct, but where is the evidence? I'm naturally suspicious, since a fabricated geanealogy of my Rice family simply tacked us onto a Welsh baronial family which coincidentally has the same last name. (And we don't even belong to the New England Rice family the "researcher" did a cut and paste job on!)
p.s. I'm descended from Matthew's second marriage, through his son Isham Talbot and Isham's son Edmund Talbot, brother of US Sen. Isham Talbot Jr. of Kentucky.
