Most DEFINITELY! Grandfather was George C Tallerday, MD, who lived in Belvidere, Illinois. I do not know where he was born. Dates 1851 - 1940 . Died in New York City, where he lived for his last 10 years with my parents. Grandfather reputedly had 5 wives, all sequentially. The only 2 I have verified were Illinois, COOK county (or Boone County) TALLERDAY, George C MARCKLEY, Susie Cook co, Ill 31 Dec 1873 Record #85-14314 TALLERDAY, George C MARKLEY, Etta Cook 11 May 1891 #167243 Elsewhere, I have seen a reference to a Caroline Markley, who may be one of the above. I had also been led to believe there was a Charlotte Graves, and a Susan Leininger (spelling??) #6 was annuled- he met her on the train to NYC. His Children were George, Jr, also an M.D., Charlotte Betts, Myrta, and Percy. Percy died young, Myrta never married, and Charlotte married Walter Hall, and had a son named, guess what.....George. George Jr named his daughters Charlotte and Eileen. There was a Cousin Howard Tallerday, though I don't know whether he was Father's cousin, or ours. He and wife Louise moved to SanFrancisco,Ca, and had 2 daughters, Aileen (real original?) and I don't know the other ones name. I believe half of what I read, and 25% of what Grandfather said. He also claimed to have run away from home at the age of 11, to be a drummer boy in the Civil War. Anyhow, I have absolutely NO CLUE to the national origin of the name, what Immigration did to the spelling, etc, or When the family came to America, where they landed, etc. I would enjoy learning news of any other branches of the family history.
