My Great Grandfather was James Tait born in Jedburgh around 1855-60. My Grandfather, also James, moved to Kelso, also in the Scottish Borders, and had 13 children with his wife Lillias Dickson.

My Great Grandfather is the furthest back I have been able to trace my family tree to date. But as Jedburgh is such a small town, even today, then it may well be possible that the James Tait you talk of is an ancestor of mine too.

Do get in touch if you think there might be a match here.
