Yes, my records show Parthenia Harmon as William Miles Adair's wife, and show William as the father of both William J. Adair and a sister named Blanche. William J. married Lottie Hart and had decendants with a long record as missionaries in Africa. Blanche married a man named Newt Varnard, lived in Washington State, and had two sons whose names I don't have.
The History of Randolph County (Marissa IL Historical Society) cites my great-grandfather, Francis Moore, in the May 7, 1937 issue of the Sparta News-Plaindealer, that William, "married first Miss Parthenia, daughter of John and Florinda (Uhls) Harmon. She died at Swanwick March 10, 1882, leaving two children." The article, written by J.B. Dodge, says, "Frank Moore did not give the names of William M. Adair's wives." (Frank Moore died in 1922, so the date of his correspondence with J.B. Dodge is another mystery.)
P.S. I saw in the catalog of the Allen County (Ft. Wayne, IN) a listing for your book about the Taggarts in Illinois and South Carolina. I'm thinking about buying it, if I can find out who sells it.
You can reach me at dmh8620@bellsouth.net about that, if you like.
Dave
