I do not have the entire obit. The full OBIT would really be helpful.
From the section just posted;
the following set of words led me to believe it was Moses Jr.:
“My father was …
He directed my Sponsor to have me christened Patrick, but at the important instant of administering Baptism, he forgot the name, and in his embarrassment substituted Moses.…”
I guess the full OBIT is needed to reveal if this son was christened Moses and then later changed. The best possibility is that someone was quoting the words of the deceased Moses Jr. Since the words are shown in quotes that certainly could be the case. I guess if the tombstone and bible clearly show the number to be 1822, then my first interpretation is incorrect.
I would like to get any information you have from the book or pictures of the cemetery tombstone.
