Taggart Family Genealogy Forum

Karen, that search engine for newspapers sounds wonderful! I wish we had something like that here, there are several families I would look up! And it would be a tremendous help for genealogy. I don't need anything from those cemetery books, I didn't have anyone in that area that I know of, but I AM a cemetery junkie, I have visited some of the people I have researched in cemeteries. It is a challenge to find these old cemeteries, and THEN to find any stones. You will have fun looking up those 1,086 articles, and I am sad to tell you that the name Wilson is in Moses' family, I have heard that one son was John Wilson Taggart, but he was in a different location and much earlier. You would have to research these people to see if they are Moses' line, and it is almost impossible to do this without some sort of leads. And just think how MANY John Taggarts there must have been.
I did look at my notes, I have Margaret and Jane in 3 census records. Margaret Anderson married Daniel Taggart, Jane Anderson married John Taggart, I have assumed they were sisters, but I don't have any proof. Anderson is a fairly common name, and there were a lot of them in the area, there is an Anderson SC a bit northwest of Abbeville. And there were Andersons in Co.Tyrone. In the Randolph Co IL census for 1850 Margaret is 50; in 1860 Margaret is 61 b SC, Jane is 68; in 1870 Jane is 77. Jane lists IR as birthplace in one, SC in the other, this sort of mistake is common. Mrs. Torrance has over 20 pages on the Andersons and I am very sure there are a couple of families mixed up.
