I am one of a group working on an official history of the Wisconsin 23rd Regiment . One of our men is Benjamin Austin Taft who enlisted 12 Aug 1862 at Madison, Dane Co., WI . He survived the war.
He was the son of Delos Taft & had a sister, Nellie & a half brother Byron Potter Taft b. 1 Nov 1837.
He m. (1) Anna? b. c. 1844 & (2) Sadie Thompson He was at Woodson Co., KS with wife Anna working in the NY RailRoad Office in 1870. He was at Ourary Co., CO in 1880 = No wife listed. Sadie Thompson Taft filed for pension - date not known.
He was a druggist at Silverton, Col in 1898.
He d. 12 Nov 1907 - age 70 and is buried at Hillside Cemeter - no marker - Silverton, San Juan Co., CO

If there is a fee please let me know. We are collecting info on over 1100 men and can't afford to pay them.
