The William Riley Copeland that you mentioned is the son of Zacheus Copeland, wife Unknown. Zacheus Copeland's parents were Joseph Copeland and Sarah (Seahorn) Copeland. This family has been traced back to about 1635 in the US and possibly two earlier generations in the Northumberland area of Northern England.
