I have been doing Tadlock genealogy for about 15 years now (my wife is a Tadlock).
Every branch of the family seemed to continue usage of the same names for their kids. There was a time I almost announced a moratorium on the use of Edward, Thomas, Lewis, and Joseph! It was a nightmare separating them in the various files!
Now you also know where the Simon came from ... Catherine's father Simon Overturf. The Alexander coming from Joseph's father Alexander Tadlock.
I might add that though I stated that there was a sister to Simon named Susan, I have subsequently removed her from my family list as there is no satisfactory evidence to verify she ever existed. The 1880 census for Catherine (then widow) does not show her name. I think that another researcher misread an 1885 Iowa State census, thinking that Simon was Susan. That same researcher shows a Susan born about 1874, but does not record Simon. Lesson I learned earlier in my work about not automatically assuming that someone else's work is accurate, and evidently forgot when listing that family line.
For that reason, I chose to list the various census reports for you ... so you can double check for yourself. If you then are satisfied with the data, then you are free to consider it as verified.
