Gary:
Some confusion has arisen over the name of HAMPTON in this family. There is no known middle name for Abner H. Tackitt (sic), son of Lancaster Tackitt (sic), nor is there any evidence known for Elender (sic), the wife of Lancaster, as having the surname of HAMPTON.Wish it were so!Our task might be a be a bit easier.Although there probably was somewhere earlier, we know of no connection between the family of LANCASTER TACKITT (sic) of VA/KY/TN/AL and that of HAMPTON TACKETT.
The best we have come up with, and this is hardly proven, is that HAMPTON TACKETT, c1801/12-c1860/65, from Marion Co., TN (1830), Cannon Co., TN (1840) and Pope Co., IL (1850), may well have been one of the several children of William Tackett & Ruth of DeKalb Co., TN (1840) and Wilson Co., TN (1818) in which William is Bondsman for the marriage of a Stephen HAMPTON and Elizabeth Williams. Also see William in the 1820 Wilson Co., TN Census.
