Ontario-Wisconsin-Minnesota Tackaberrys
Have been working my way back through my Tackaberry family tree.My maternal grandfather was Henry Webster Tackaberry.Oral family history has Henry and an unnamed brother coming to the Wisconsin/Minnesota area from the family farm "east of Toronto." Brother couldn't find work and moved back, Henry stayed here and started a family. He was born September 5, 1862 in Canada (no other location formally yet).On his death certificate, his parents are named as Samuel and Annie Tackaberry. Both are listed as being born in Canada.I haven't been able to locate much information to help me nail down the family's location. But, I have found a website at McGill University, http://imago.library.mcgill.ca/countyatlas/http://imago.library.mcgill.ca/countyatlas/ that when a search is done shows a plot of land of 50 (acres?) being owned by a Mrs. S. Tackaberry in Crumlin, West Nissouri, Middlesex, Ontario.Don't know if this is Annie, but Henry had been in the US for 60 years when he passed away in 1939, so he would have left Canada in abt. 1879.Could be that the father passed away and the boys needed to find jobs with more of an income to keep things going ...
If anyone has any information on a Tackaberry family in this area, or suggestions on how to proceed, it would be very much appreciated.
