My information is that his parents were John Tackaberry of Tomagaddy and Hester Fossey. This came from another researcher in Australia, Adrian Cardell. He had done extensive work on the Bolton family who were connected to the Tackaberry/Thackaberry family several times. In the Bolton family were several Fosseys, too.
My great-great grandfather was another Fossey Tackaberry, born in Wexford, Ireland, immigrated in 1851/2 to the state of Iowa in the U.S., and died there. From unproven sources, I believe his parents to be William Tackaberry of Inch by Gorey, Ireland and his wife Margaret Johnson.Same source shows William's parents as Nathaniel Tackaberry of Ballybanoge, Arklow, Ireland and Elizabeth Stringer. Nathaniel's parents were John Tackaberry of Pillarton, Cornwall, England and Margaret Doyle.John's parents were Nicholas Tackaberry of Pillarton, Cornwall, England and Grace Sleepe.
I believe there must be a connection with the Rev. Fossey but can't prove it.My Fossey was born in 1806 so maybe he was named in honor of this prominent Methodist minister as my Tackaberrys were Methodist.Or maybe because he was a cousin they were proud of!Who knows?
