Dear Dot,
My name is Wally McMahon from sunnybank a Brisbane suburb and I am a Godkin researcher.
Most of the Godkins who went to Ontario were the families of three Godkin/Tackaberry marriages prior to 1800 and where the family name was Fossey.
I have never looked into the male side of the Tackaberrys but, along the way have collected a fair bit of information.
Benjamin Tackaberry marriages:
Rachel Codd 1819
Ann Edward 1839
Elizabeth Hayes 1817
Maria Pierce 1841
Elizabeth Rath 1793
Martha sherlock 1799
I will look for all of the Tackaberry references that I have and send them to you.
I believe that Robert Tackaberry had a son Benjamin born around 1769 and also William Tackaberry whose son Benjamin was born around 1780.
I would be interested to know the origin of"Fossey" as a christian name and is,most probably,a female surname who had married into the Tackaberrys.
The origin of the County Wexford Tackaberrys was John Tackaberry baptised Pillaton Cornwell the son of Nicholas Tackaberry and Grace and who married Margaret Doyle in dublin 29 August 1656.
I would also like to know the parents of the three Tackaberry girls who married into the Godkins should you have any of that information.
kind Regards,
Wally
