Cyndi,
Yep...clear as mud :)
Most people do list Nancy Harrison as the mother of William Tabor's (b 1776 d 1837)children b/c her marriage is the easy one to document. If you get out there in the middle of the mud though, you can pretty quickly decide she most likely is NOT the mother of Jessie, Rebecca or James not only b/c she was born in 1782, but b/c she didn't marry William Tabor until 1831 in Jackson County, Indiana.
I know they had children early, but I still think age 12 is still on the too early side. Also, if you examine the dates for Jessie and Rebecca (their births are in the 1790s) and the date of birth for James (1802), there is a large gap between James and the next child, Robert (1809).This also suggests a different mother or two.
Literally every family history I have seen regarding William Tabor lists Jesse and Rebecca as his children, but no mother has ever been mentioned.Jesse is always referred to as the older brother. One reference refers to Jesse as having been 'adopted with sister Rebecca by William Tabor' (of Jackson County, IN)
The papertrails I have been following up on provided me with the names of the other wives in my post you responded to, but I haven't been able to document those names as of yet...meaning I either can't find or don't have access to microfilm that might have that info on it.
As far as the other William (s) in the line...I am working with William b 1776 having William b 1739 as his father and Elizabeth b 1743 as his mother.I have not included any children to this line other than the William b 1776.I think there are a couple of databases on line that have more info than I do.I generally don't add people to my actual database unless I've been able to track down some documentation (for instance, I show William b 1776 to be married only to Nancy Harrison b/c I can't document the other marriages I suspect he had).
I also just checked through my notes and haven't included anything farther back than William b 1776 having father William b 1739.I apparently was trying to focus more on running to ground the Snavely component and whether there was any truth to that.
One thing I do know though is several years ago when Ancestry started World Tree (the one that makes assumptions based on data people have input)I got all excited b/c I thought I had a big breakthrough when I typed in William Tabor (b 1776).When I started processing the info on the screen, I realized that the computer was making connections that were a:) undocumented and b:) chronologically impossible. The database corruption factor was very high depending on what kind of user databases had been uploaded.A few years later, I started to discover that this same data was now being posted to the boards as 'plausible' family trees...no documentation included...or sometimes someone would source it to Ancestry World Tree.
I definately think your Dad's data and mine are the same William Tabor family though.Let's keep in touch.
Did this clear the mud or make it muddier?
Patricia
