The Symons name is indeed a Cornish one. My own grandmother was a Symons, born in Helston, Cornwall, a small town on the Lizard penninsula. Her father, James Lugg Symons, was born at Goonhilly Downs -- and the remains of the family farm can be made out among the satellite dishes there.

Whether your family is actually from Cornwall or not, a visit there is well worth your while -- it's absolutely the most beautiful place on earth.
