John, Hessian, Pulaski Co., VA ca. 1780

I put in a few key words and did not come up with anything, but I hope this will help someone. I am not researching this family, just entering information from one of my books "Houses Virginians Have Loved" by Agnes Rothery, 1954:

"To the fertile uplands of what is now Pulaski County, there came shortly after the Revolution a Hessian named John Swope, to recuperate from wounds he had received in the war. John Swope was an arichitect of exceptional ability as is proved by the houses he built. Pulaski County is about two thousand feet elevation; most of the dwellings were log cabins."

There are several pictures of the interior and exterior of his home, as well as quite a bit of information on the house itself. I did not see any further information on his family.
