I am a direct descendant of Heinrich Pfaff. John (Johannes) Pfaff/Poff the son who died in 1858 left lands to his son, Henry Clinton and his wife at his death. In later years, after the death of Salome, Henry petitioned the court for partition of the lands. This included some of the Urbin family of Anna Elizabeth Pfaff (Poff) Urbin I believe in Fulton Co., Indiana by memory but could be wrong. I do have this in my own records naming these heirs.
I do know that in about 1840's John, my ancestor (My lineage is Heinrich, Johannes/John, Henry Clinton Sr., Henry Clinton Jr., Adam "Bryan", Martha, to me) with John Urbin and I believe Salome's brother Jacob Hensel, all owned lands in Champaign Co., Illinois. In his will John asks the lands be sold and be divided between his heirs. I think this is right county. If interested, I can provide more information.
I do know that Heinrich did settle in Fairfield Co., Ohio after some of his Swiss friends went to America. The Gass you mention could also be Goss. Heinrich's brother died enroute to America *this is from records in Switzerland)-this sister in law was a sister of a Peter During named Margaretha. She married second in Fairfield Co., Ohio a Jacob Gass...in 1819 she was the godparent of Heinrich and his wife's son, Samuel Pfaff/Poff's baptism at St. Michael's German Reformed Lutheran church-later known as Bickel's Church, I think on/near Bickel Road.
The Pfaff family I am related to above came from Basil-Landschaft area of Switzerland in extreme northwest border.
