From the Register of Swiss Surnames http://www.hls-dhs-dss.ch/famn/index.php?lg=e, Lererer in the early 19th century was only in Kanton Solothurn (SO) at a place called Messen. Soleure is the French word for the Kanton, but German is the language of this region of Switzerland, hence Solothurn is the name to use. Have a look round this website: http://www.eye.ch/swissgen/schweiz-en.html which hasn't much on SO but will be helpful on Swiss research. A posting on Geneal-Forum might produce some local assistance.
