swiss rhoden in south carolina

Sometime in the late 1950's or early 1960's One of the Augusta
Georgia newspapers (Chronicle/Herald) had an article in sunday paper about the settlement of Beech Island, South carolina and stated it was settled by swiss immigrants that were recruited by flyers distributed in switzerland by the south carolina government. So guess is possible some rhodens came directly from switzerland via england.
