I am trying to find out some history on Swiss family ancestors. Peter Mori (could spelled Moery, Morey, Murry or Moerie in your family history), was born 9/28/1788 in Epsach, Switzerland & died in 1831. He was married to Elisabeth Hoffman on 3/14/1813. Elisabeth was born 1783 & died 1856. Peter & Elisabeth Mori are my great-great-great-great-grandparents. Peter Mori was the son of Johann and Anne Struchen Mori. I do not know Johann or Anne's birth and death dates. That is the information I seek as well as are there any living relatives remaining in Switzerland. Funny how when I was a child I dreamed of visiting Switzerland but never knew exactly why!

A sample of the info I do have on Peter & Elisabeth's decendants is:

Rudolph Mori(4/22/1821-1891), one of Peter's five sons, traveled from Epsach, Switzerland (near Bern)in 1862 with his wife and six children. Rudolph married Marie, OR MARIA, Gutman (3/30/1812-1873) on Jan. 23, 1841. Maria & Rudolph are buried in the Wickliffe cemetery in Indiana. Their children (in birth order) were Maria, Elisabeth, Gottfried(Godfrey), Carolina(Lina), Ernst and John Fredrick.

Gottfried (1846-1902), or Godfrey as he changed it too, married Lisette, OR LISSETTE, Burger (1852-1886). Their oldest four children were born on the family farm near Wickliffe, Indiana. I believe there were six children in all. Their names (in birth order) were - Clara Elisa, John Robert, Ernst Rudolph (Ernest), Carolina Ida (Ida), Dan and Emma Louisa(Ema). Before the birth of Dan and later Ema, the family moved to/near Stuttgart, Arkansas stopping for a while in Missouri when they came upon hard times. The family was taken in/befriended by members of the Mennonite Church. Godfrey led the singing and occasionally conducted services in the church. While there they met a Mr. Yoder who was a leader in the church in Stuttgart, Arkansas or near there. Apparently, there is a community near there named Yoder in Mr. Yoder's honor. Lisette died sometime after their arrival in Arkansas at age 34, of what I do not know. Both Godfrey & Lisette are buried in the Yoder cemetery in/near Stuttgart, AR.

My great-grandmother was Emma Louisa Moery (1885-1966) who married Tom Bowers in 1907. They had only one son, Arnold Edward Bowers (1908-1945). Arnold married Daisie Lee Short and together they has three children - Arnold Edward Bowers, Jr. (Eddie), Robert Gail (Bobby) and Linda Lou. Eddie married my mother Anna Pettingill.
