I came across a 1931 article [paper unknown] about the Golden [50th] wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Ulrich SCHLEGEL of Eudora, [Douglas Co], Kansas, USA.
According to the article, Ulrich SCHLEGEL was born 10 May 1844 at Weite by Truebbach, Canton St. Gallen, Switzerland. He came to the USA with his brother, Jeremiah in 1865 and settled at Eudora, KS.
Mrs. Schlegel, [possibly Minna or Anna?] whose maiden name was JOHANNING was b. at Casco, [Franklin Co], Missouri, USA 15, Nov 1853/55? In August 1876 she came with her brother, William to Willow Springs [Douglas County], KS where two brothers and a sister were already living.
Mr. and Mrs. Schlegel were united in marriage 22 Feb 1881 at the home of Mrs. Schlegel's sister at Willow Springs, Kansas. They lived on a farm two miles south of Eudora until the fall of 1910, when they retired and moved into their present home at Eudora.
The only grandchild of the celebrating couple, Miss Dorothy Schlegel sang a vocal solo, "Just Fifty Years Ago." There is a photo of the couple accompanying the article.
This is not my family line but thought it might help someone.
