Hi,
I am a direct descendant of Johann Ulrich Arner/Aner.I have a lot of info on this family.Much has been done already back to the 1500's.There is an article in the
National Genealogical Society Quarterly, Vol
38,sept. 1950, no. 3 , pg 101 which gives the Swiss history of the family.
I was in Windlach, Switzerland (which is
close to Zurich) last fall. I have pictures of the town and of Stadel, Switzerland. This is the town that Johann came from.My
pictures are however back in Pa.I moved to Utah 2 months ago and every thing is stored in Pa. where I grew up.I will be back in Pa. in Aug. and will get them.My mother
decends from Johann's grandson, Felix who
moved to Adams county, Pa. in 1785 from Lehigh County, Pa. Felix's last name eventually was spelled Orner. He spoke German and the English speaking people did not know how to spell his name.It appears
as Arner, Orna, and Orner. All of his decendants spelled it Orner. My mother was an Orner and grew up 3-4 miles from where
Felix settled in 1785.
The Mormon library has much information
on this family.I am interested in your line as I have no info on them.
Johann's wife's name is Verena. I think you will find all the females names in that line that you show as Verona are really spelled Verena. There is a history of Windlach and Stadel written in German.i zeroxed most of it-180 pages but I have not
translated it. It is in the Zurich Central Public Library and was written by a teacher
from Stadel who is still living.
I don't know which house Johann lived in but there are only about 50 houses in Windlach and about 25-30 of them look to be built before 1800.Many are restored.
Quite a few houses in Stadel date before 1700.
I would love to hear from you.
I just got my computer so I don't have a lot of my research on it yet. Most is in paper form or on disks that I DOWNLOADED FROM the
Mormon Library long ago.
please email me.
