I am the great grandson of Sheriff John Closner of Hidalgo County Texas and have accumulated various documents you might find interesting. One doc has Generation I at the top starting with Christian Klossner.
Christian Klossner was born at Diemtigen in the Miedessimmenthal (sp), Canton Bern, on October 8, 1808, Switzerland. (Came to America in 1851).
Susanne Katherine Knutti was born in Diemtigen, on August 13, 1803, Switzerland. (Came to America in 1851).
Children Born To Union
1. Christian II born July 7, 1827 in Diemtigen, Switzerland
2. John I born September 23, 1828, in Wimmis, Switzerland
3. Jacob I born November 14, 1829, in Wimmis, Switzerland
4. David I was born March 4, 1831, in Wimmis, Switzerland
5. Samuel was born February 17, 1832 in Wimmis, Switzerland
6. Susanna Katherine was born May 17, 1833, in Wimmis Switzerland
7. Mattie was born October 16, 1839, in Wimmis, Switzerland
8. Elizabeth was born, February 28, 1841, in Wimmis, Switzerland
9. Anna was born August 11, 1848, in Wimmis, Switzerland
Of Note:
I have conflicting info regarding which wife came first however Christian II married Catharine Buehler, 1850 in Switzerland, his cousin on his father's side, Elizabeth Spring, 15 Sept 1859, Berne, Minnesota and Annie Derst Vogeli, 25 Dec 1876, Plymouth Co., Iowa.
Jacob Closner married Anna Schober 1851, Green County Wisconsin.
The only info I have on the name Rosina is:
Rosina Knutti, born 3 Aug 1816 in Diemtigen, Bern Switzerland. No mention of marriage on this doc. Her parents were:
David Knutti born 29 May 1775 Diemtigen, Bern, Switzerland.died 19 Mar 1826 married 30 Mar 1798 to:
Susanna Bringold born about 1777 in Diemtigen Bern Swiitzerland.Susanna Catharina Knutti and Rosina were sisters.
I have visited the cemetery in Berne, Minnesota and spoke with an older gentleman who lived on a farm close by the cemetery 1 mile west. He seemed to have knowledge of the Closners. This was 5-6 yrs ago.
I also ran into the David Closner leg of the family in Oregon. The Springwater cemetery near Estacada, Oregon is full of Closners.Hope this is helpful. I'll keep looking thru my docs for more.
John
