My Great-Grandfather "Frederick Charles "Forster" Foster was born January 1827 in Erlach, Switzerland (Canton of Bern).

He changed the spelling of his last name from "Forster"
to Foster either before he left Switzerland or just after
he arrived in the USA. He was married to Susan Stiner born
in Bern, Switzerland.

I don't have any information about his past. Family or
age, what ship he came on, the port he left from or the port he arrived at in this county.

I found this information but am not sure it is my
Forster, Friederic, male, 24 yrs. old
Country of Origin: Switzerland
Family Number: 19178060
Ship Name: Zurich
Port of Departure: Havre
Port of Arrival: New York
Nat'l Archive Series No.:M237
Microfilm Number: 92

I think that he was in the Union Army: Corporal Ferderick Forster 34 yrs. old. Enlisted August 15, 1861 in Buffalo, New York. (This could be totally wrong)???

He died Feburary 2, 1902 in Cheboygan, Michgan.

Anyon with information about my Great-Grandfather or his ancestors, pleasd contact me.
