Carder-Curl-Swisher-Switzer of VA/WV mtDNA Project

I am the Swisher /Switzer DNA coordinator with several DNA companies including the Switzer-2, or the Swisher and Switzer Family DNA project at Family Tree DNA. We just received a pledge to do a DNA sample of a direct line female descended from one of the daughters that family histories give for Peter and Mary Swisher of WV. Margaret Swisher who married Jeremiah Curl and Elizabeth Carder who married Manley Carder are other daughters and we are looking for another direct line female of each line to provide an additional mtDNA tests as a corroborative sample. There are two important objectives associated with this testing project to establish the earlier origin and identity of Mary Swisher b. ca 1850 wife of Peter Swisher.

Family researchers interested in these lines can donate to the Project Donation Fund by going to these websites. Additional funding will be used for deep mtDNA testing of these mtDNA samples. We anticipate some interesting results once mtDNA samples from each of these and a couple of other lines are completed
