I read your response on geneology Echo Lake Switzers. My Great Grandfather was Lorenzo Switzer and he and his wife Mary Parton are Buried in Denmark NY cemetary for I use to take care of their grave when I lived in Carthage NY. They were buried thier when My grandfather (Marcus Switzer) and his family lived in Denmark, NY.
Luella (Hayes)Parsons daughter of Mary Elizabeth ( Switzer) Hayes daughter of Lorenzo Switzer and Mary Parton wrote down our Switzer lineage as far as she knew it before she died. She wrote : Lorenzo Switzer, son of James and Susan (Ruttan) Switzer, born Parham, Ontario Canada in 1857 (as you can see that date is on his tomb stone), married Mary Parton, born in Ireland in 1883. He died 1939, she died 1932. They are buried in Hillside Cemetary Denmark, NY. She listed their childern as Rhoda, John, Lizzie (Elizabeth), Maggie(Mararet Ethel), Cloie and Marcus. ( Marcus is my Grandfather as you can see from the pictures).
Susan - Lorenzo's Mother is listed as the daughter of John Angus Ruttan and Mary?. Her sister and brothers were Angus, Mary, and Sam. Angus was killed cutting down trees on the family farm at Echo Lake. Mary married a wager and had one son Allen Wager. Sam was a life long cripple.
Luella also lists Susan's childern with John & Jacob so you can see I have no reason to doubt her facts, but I can't find James - with dates that match. I have found a couple with no marriage or dates of death. I am still searching.
If you know who Jane is - the daughter of Susan and Jacob that was born in Lorenzo & Mary's house- that would help. If I could track down any of her grand son's or daughter's they may remember something told to them about James or they may have a family bible etc. All I have is what Luella wrote- that Jane was born in Lorenzo and Mary's house after her father (Jacob's death) and that she married William Tacey ( an Englishman) thier childern were Margaret, Robert, Fred, Thomas and Richard - who was killed in Io Shima, near Okonawa. He is buried near his cousin Wesley Forbes.
Please let me know if you hear of anything.
