I have: 1. ALLEN MARTIN SWITZER, SR. was born ca 1835 in New York, and died Mar 27, 1891 in Buel Township, Sanilac County, Michigan. He married ELIZABETH ANNE GOSDEN Feb 04, 1854 in Lexington, Sanilac County, Michigan, daughter of JOHN GOSDEN and ANNE BURTON. She was born Sep 13, 1835 in Ontario, and died Sep 10, 1909 in Buel Township, Sanilac County, Michigan.
I found a Martin Switzer b. ca 1835 NY, in the 1850 in Amith, Allegany NY par. Wm & Dency. But, after researching this Martin it appears that he died in Mina NY w/wife of Rebecca. Mine must have come to Michigan by 1854 as he marries as, extreme above. Could your Martin have had a son Martin who went to Michigan from Canada, but having been born in NY while your Martin was still there?
