THE NEWS Northfield, Rice County, MN April 14, 1955 Page 12, Column 3 William F. Switzer. The funeral service for William F. Switzer, 87, who died Tuesday, March 29, was held Friday, April 1 at the Bierman funeral chapel. The Rev. Irving W. Malm, pastor of the Northfield Alliance church, was in charge of the service. On Saturday, April 2, another service was held at the Presbyterian church in Holyoke, with interment in the cemetery there. Mr. Switzer was born Oct. 5, 1868 in Boone, Iowa, where he grew to manhood. He was married July 8, 1891 at Pomeroy, Iowa, to Elizabeth A. Embree. They resided in Boone for 12 years. They then moved to Kansas where they farmed for two years before coming to Minnesota. They resided for three years in Chippewa county in this state, then moved to Holyoke community. Mrs. Switzer died in 1915. Residing in Northfield community for the past several years, Mr. Switzer had recently been at the home of his granddaughter, Mrs. Theodore Holten. He is survived by ten children, Albert of Duluth, Orval of Kettle River, William R. of Castle Rock, Nick of Lafayette, Ind., Mrs. P. L. Simpson (Pearl) of South St. Paul, Mrs. William Hatt (Artie) of Murtaugh, Idaho, Mrs. Charles Madsen (Myrtle) of San Jose, Calif., Mrs. Lester Nelson (Amy) of Moose Lake, Mrs. W. W. Madsen (Caroline) of Tofte, Mrs. Roy Kleeberger (Opal) of Randolph. There are also 60 grandchildren and 88 great-grandchildren. A son Ernest preceded him in death of 1919.
