Hi, Joy --
Jefferson Frederic "Jeff" SWINT & Anita Ray were my grandparents. They did not have a son. They only had one child together, my mother. This was Anita's 2nd marriage and she had a daughter whom Papa adopted and she took the name SWINT.
The only George Washington SWINT I have listed was born 13 Jan 1825 and his parents were William David SWINT & Anna "Annie" BRYANT.George's grandparents were John SWINT (who d. 1801 in Hancock Co, GA) & Elizabeth CARTLEDGE, who were my 4th great grandparents.According to the info I have (which I have NOT verified), this George Washington SWINT was married to Hephseba Elizabeth G. BOND.I don't have their marriage date. The had 8 children. One of them was Millard Filmore SWINT (born 15 July 1856 in Spalding Co, GA) who married(1) Effie L. STARR on 10 Sep 1885 in Spalding Co, GA and (2) Martha "Mollie" SEAGRAVES (don't have their marriage date).I think all the children are Martha's but not sure, as there are several for whom I have no birthdates.Perhaps the Millard Filmore SWINT is the one you're talking about. The SWINTs had a penchant for naming their boys after presidents.
There may be other men named George Washington SWINT but if so, I don't have them listed and have no info on them.
I hope this helps.
Becky
