My Great Grandfather - about whom I know very little, other than where he was buried (New Orleans) and that he was born in England - was called Harry Swift - and 1880 would be about right.

This Harry Swift had several daughters in the US - one of them was my Grandmother, Mary Swift Cullom (d. 1974 in New Oleans).
