I don't know of a brother of our Alpheus named John, though there could have been one. We're conpletely without any proof of the parentage of Alpheus: just many guesses.

Our research has shown that there were quite a few Swifts in the southern Hudson Valley, though. There probably is a connection among many of them. Wish I could help further.
