Sarah and Margaret b. Anderson Co. TN
I am looking for two Sweeten Sisters who married two Kirk brothers. Margaret "Peggy" Sweeten b. 4 Apr 1809 in TN married Jonathan Kirk ca. 1828 and had ch: John Wesley Kirkb. 17 Sep 1828, Lucinda b. 27 Dec 1830, Melinda b. 24 Dec 1832, Mary Julia Ann b. 22 Oct 1834, William Henderson b. 22 Oct 1836 and unnamed daughter b. 1838.The parents and all the daughters died in a cholera epidemic in Anderson Co., TN in the late summer of 1838.Sister Sarah "Sally" Sweeten b. in TN 14 May 1811 married Alexander Kirk, brother of Jonathan Kirk, on 8 Jan 1826 in Anderson Co., TN.They emigrated from Anderson Co., TN to Monroe Co., IN and then to Platte Co., MO and to Brownsville, Linn Co., OR in 1846.They had the following children:William Riley Kirk b. 1826/27, Mary Ann (Polly) 29 Aug 1827, Henry Harrison Kirk b. 16 Apr 1836, Thomas Jefferson Kirk, b. 12 Aug 1839, Elizabeth b. 1842 Platte Co., MO, Orpha Clay b. 1844 Platte Co., MO, Leander b. 29 May 1847 and twins Francis M. and Amanda b. 1850 in Linn Co., OR.There is a photo of Sarah Sweeten Kirk in the library in Brownsville, Linn Co., OR.I am looking for the father of these sisters.Possible candidates are: Dutton Sweeten, who was in Anderson Co., TN tax lists 1802 and 1805, Robert Sweeten, who was also in the Anderson Co. tax lists in those years, William Sweeten, who was in the Anderson Co. 1805 tax list.I do not think John Sweeten of Franklin Co., TN was the father since in the 1820 Census he has only one daughter in the age bracket 10-16.Any help will be much appreciated.
