Seth was also a soldier name, in the birth record the father was recorded as "Extra Rote Karlen" [~the reserve soldier] Lars Seth.

To find out if Carl Johan used the surname Larsson or Seth before he became soldier Säll, you will have to follow him in he household records.
Same for Carl Johan's children if they used Säll or Carlsson/Carlsdotter or possibly Johansson/Johansdotter.
