Hi Katarina
Thanks for your help. I had some of that info, but there's definitely new material there.
So basically, unless there are some more illegitimate children around, the only hope for living relatives lies with Karl Adolph Isador Erikson and his wife Ann-Marie.
Any suggestions on how to find out if they had children?
My Uncle Bob visited the family with my grandmother in 1938 when he was 8 years old and remembers meeting cousins, but remembers no names or even their genders. Unfortunately there was a hurricane hitting Long Island at the time of their return and they had to stay out at sea for an extra three days and that became his most vivid memory of the trip.
The 4th child of Sara Katarina Bergstom was the Emma Katarina Berstrom that I mentioned. She was the first to move to the US and appeared to be the person my grandmother followed over. She apparently arranged for my grandmother to work where she was employed.
Regarding the high proportion of illegitimate births on both sides of the family, do you know if this was common for the place and time?
Thanks
Dave
