We can more efficiently try to help you if you can tell us who your ancestor was, and also provide details such as birthdate, where he moved after emigrating, etc.

His birth record, for example, will provide a village or farm of birth and will tell the parents.

The Svenska Ortnamn CD lists a farm named Lervik in Förslöv parish. Förslöv parish is located in the BÅSTAD section of this map.

There are nine men born in Förslöv parish who emigrated in 1885, according to the Emibas CD. (Emibas is about 75% complete.) None were listed as living in Lervik at that time when they emigrated. Eight of those still lived in Förslöv at the time of emigration. Without details, there is no way to see if your ancestor is listed.

Judy
