There is a brand new site for Cook County which is indexing birth, marriage, and death certificates. I doubt it is complete since I have lots of relatives who died in Chicago and only a very few are listed. Volunteers are doing the indexing so it will take a while to get done.

However, the site lists the death date of Johan August Brodin. There is a link to click to put him into the "cart" and I think that leads to a way to order the certificate online. I don't know what it leads to exactly since I have no intention of putting this man's death certificate into my cart. There is going to be a fee to order the certificate but I don't know what the fee is.

You have probably discovered (or someone else discovered) these sites since you have that marriage date.
