I have been researching my family history for about a year or so, I guess I am just a novice.I am a Descent from Garrett & Barbara Van Sweringen.I have inherited papers from my aunt who has passed away. She started a family tree and I am trying fill spaces. I have learned a lot from the postings. I am showing that Garret& Barbara had 4 Children,
Thomas B 1688,Van B 1692. Samual b 1693/95?, John 1700, and there is a name thrown in there Zacharias (does that mean anything to you?)I have Eric Van Sweringen as Garretts Father?.(No Dates). My Great Grandfather was James Ellis(Curly Jim)Swearengin 1850-1924,son of Eli Hugh 1805-1854. My Grandfather was Charley Swearengin. They were buried either in the Swearengin Cemetery, Old Swearengin Cemetery, or Union Chapel. I Found a listing of a Joseph Prichard Swearengin,b 9/18/1856. I found 2 Joseph (no middle names) but the birth dates dont match your Joseph B 1872 & 1873 maybe the same. There is a definite connection. Weve started out with the same 2 Ancestors, Garrett & Barbara. I have a pile of papers to read, I have read some. If I run accross any info I will be glad to send to you. If you have any Please send It will be very much appreciated. I learned from you that Garrett was Married twice. I didnt know that.I have an old picture of a Joseph A. Swearengin, a Family picture of A John Burton Swearengin and an old family picture of Nelson & Harriet Swearengin, & one of Andy and Margaret Swearengin. Do these mean anything to you? My e-mail is : Thanks
